A member mentioned in despatches (MID) for service after 10th of August 1920 an until 1993 wears a single bronze oak leave on the ribbon of the campaign medal. Only one emblem is worn no matter how many times a member may have been ‘mentioned’. When a ribbon alone is worn a slightly smaller (miniature) insignia is worn as a ribbon emblem.
Most commonly seen on the ribbon of the WW2 War Medal, the MID can also be worn on the ribbon of the General Service Medal, Naval General Service medal, Korea Medal, and Vietnam Medal among others.
